The ex-wife of University of California, Berkeley professor Przemysław Jeziorski, who was gunned down in broad daylight in Greece earlier this month, has been arrested.

Jeziorski, who taught at the Haas School of Business, was killed in Athens on July 4, near the home where his two children — Zoe and Angelo — live with their mother, identified by multiple news outlets as his ex, Nadia Michelidaki. Police said he had just showed up at the residence to visit his kids when he was shot five times by a masked gunman, who then managed to flee in a vehicle with two accomplices.

Jeziorski, who was struck in the chest and back, was pronounced dead on the scene. Originally from Poland, he worked at UC Berkeley for 13 years.

Five people, including Michelidaki, her current partner and three others — identified only as a Bulgarian man and two Albanian nationals — have since been jailed in connection with deadly violence. They all made their initial court appearances on Thursday.

In a statement to ABC News, Jeziorski’s brother, Lukasz, called Michelidaki “the orchestrator behind this heinous crime.” He added that her boyfriend has already confessed to the shooting and the others have similarly admitted to their roles in the attack.

“Our family is heartbroken, but we are grateful to Greek police and security professionals that have identified and captured those accountable,” he said. “We want justice to be fully served.”

Just two months before the deadly shooting, Jeziorski sought a restraining order against his ex-wife, saying he feared for his life amid their custody battle, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. He accused of her blackmail and extortion, and additionally alleged that he’d been twice assaulted by Michelidaki’s boyfriend.

The former couple married in 2014, with Jeziorski filing for divorce in fall 2021, citing irreconcilable differences. Their marriage was officially dissolved in 2024.
