DETROIT — Six people stabbed by a Cheboygan man at a Traverse City area Walmart on Saturday remained hospitalized Wednesday at Munson Medical Center, with five in good condition, while a sixth person was listed in fair condition.
All told, 11 people ranging in age from 29 to 84 were stabbed by the alleged suspect, Bradford Gille, at the Walmart in Garfield Township. Three victims have been treated and released from Munson, while two others were treated and transferred to other facilities. Authorities have not released details on how each victim was injured.
Gille, meanwhile, has been charged with 11 counts of assault with intent to murder in Traverse City's 86th District Court. He also was arraigned on a terrorism charge. He faces up to life in prison if convicted by a jury.
The stabbings happened around 4:30 p.m. Saturday near the Walmart's checkout area. Gille was eventually confronted by other shoppers, including an off-duty Munson worker, who stopped him and held him until police arrived.
Walmart was closed for three days after the attacks but reopened Wednesday, according to a Traverse City Record-Eagle report.
