Kelly Ripa "resents" the fact Mark Consuelos shows no signs of getting older.

The couple are both 54 years old and the presenter admitted the fact she is six months his senior "bothers" her every day, in particular because he has few lines or grey hairs.

Speaking on Live With Kelly and Mark, Kelly said: "Every day that I wake up aging like six months more than you, it bothers me.

"I resent the fact that you just aren't aging. At all. In any way. I mean, a little bit."

Mark joked he is "fine with it" but Kelly insisted she is resentful" because of how she has changed as she has got older.

She exclaimed: "It's your fault!"

She then said: "He just now started to get like three hairs, and he's like, 'Can you see it? Can you see the grey hairs?'"

Mark -who has Michael, 28, Lila, 24, and Joaquin, 22, with Kelly - insisted he won't be pulling out his greys.

Kelly said: "No, don't pluck them. "If I had plucked out my grey hairs, I'd be bald. Completely bald. Totally bald."

The couple's candid conversation began when they spoke about the ideal age difference for couples, with a study finding the happiest couples have a gap of under three years.

Kelly argued women often look older because they have "greater stressors on our systems."

Mark suggested childbirth was one, and his wife agreed and added: "Or just generalised worrying about every single person in our lives at all times. So I think that ages people in a way."

Kelly recently admitted she is considering going back to school now her youngest son has almost finished his studies.

Speaking on the couple's ABC morning talk show, Kelly - who dropped out of a psychology course at Camden County College in New Jersey to pursue acting - said of her son: "We keep begging him to go to grad school."

Mark chimed in and suggested: "You know what you should do? Now that he's going to be out, you should go to school, and he won't be weirded out by his mom being in class."

Kelly continued: "My whole thing is I want to go to college, I want to go to a four-year university, and I want to get my degree in something. What? I don't know ...

"I should go into broadcast -- that's an easy A. I'll take an easy A. I'll go into communications!"

However, the former All My Children actress had a change of heart because she felt she has already learned "probably what they teach not to do" on her daytime show.

She mused: "Maybe psychology, maybe I'd take a writing class.

"I'll teach reverse psychology.

"I'll be an adjunct professor."
