Teyana Taylor cried when she met Julia Roberts at the Golden Globe Awards.

The 35-year-old star - who scooped the Best Supporting Actress accolade at last month's ceremony for her turn in One Battle After Another - had always admired the Pretty Woman actress and while she was overwhelmed with emotion when she realised her screen idol was on her way to speak to her, they quickly hit it off.

Teyana told People magazine: "Everybody knows that I love Julia Roberts.

"I'm obsessed with her. And she was on the carpet at the same time I was on the carpet, but it was the part where it's all the videos and stuff happening, so we wasn't in front of cameras.

"They brought her over and I looked, and I started backing up and my eyes was watering and she was coming closer.

"And I said, 'Don't come an inch closer.' And she was coming closer, and then I just dived into her arms and it was just so amazing.

"We was like instant besties."

The two actresses shared another "amazing" moment after Teyana won her Golden Globe Award.

She recalled: "She was standing up when I won and I just dived into her arms again, and it was just so amazing.

"So yeah, she's my bestie in my head, even if she don't know it."

The All's Fair star has found it easy to make friends while doing "this whole award circuit thing" and branded Frankenstein actors Jacob Elordi and Oscar Issac her "award besties".

She said: "Those are my boys. I feel like every single time we run into each other at an event, we just always cutting up. And I love it, but I've made so many friends."

Teyana initially found fame as a singer and she recently told how advice from Beyonce has proven to be invaluable.

Speaking to People, Teyana recalled being told by the 44-year-old superstar: "Invest in yourself. Don't take it personal. This is a business."

The singer choreographed the video for Beyonce's 2006 single Ring the Alarm - but Teyana admits that she didn't understand the music business during her younger years.

She shared: "I definitely came in the business at a time where I went into everything with my heart, and I didn't understand certain things, and I would go to her and she's just like, 'Don't take it personal.' My mom would tell me the same thing."

Teyana took Beyonce's advice with her for "the long haul".

She explained: "I didn't know that certain things would be isolating where you would feel like, 'Oh s***, in order for it to be done the way I see it in my head, I'm going to have to do this s*** myself".
