Bethenny Frankel doesn't think a return to Real Housewives would be "good for business".

The 55-year-old star has opened up on her decision not to join some of her fellow Real Housewives of New York City alumni on new spinoff series The Golden Life.

In an Instagram video, she said: "It used to be good when I was promoting my own business.

"But now that I work with a lot of other brands and have different types of equity deals and partners, they don't look highly upon that genre.

"They kind of like that's it's in the rearview."

Bethenny rose to fame on the Bravo show, and she thinks even if the E! spinoff had the money to bring her back, the other cast would "resent" her for it.

She insisted: "Despite some of the women asking if I would come back, the amount of money it would take for me to come back -- that E! could presumably never pay -- would make the other Housewives resent me so much, which did happen before."

Despite describing the spinoff series as a "savage, amazing move" by the network, she is content being on the side lines.

She added: "I like my life now. I like not having to do anything anyone else tells me to do or be anywhere anyone else tells me to be.

"Protecting my peace and this stage of life is very important to me."

However, Bethenny noted that she still hopes the show is a success, and she's "happy" for the stars who have decided to get involved.

She said: "I'm really happy for these women and I want them to thrive [and] succeed and I want the show to do well."

Bethenny previously revealed she would happily walk away from her work life if she finds the right man.

Speaking to ADWEEK last summer, she said: "I would definitely retire - like, if I end up with some billionaire on some big boat."

Bethenny considers herself to be an "accidental influencer", but the reality star insists there's also real skill to her success.

She added: "I see a lot of entrepreneurs and business owners that can't help but want to promote themselves.

"But not everybody can do it, and you have to really know if you can. It has to land."
