Warwick Davis has revealed Prince William thought he already had an OBE.

The 56-year-old actor accepted the honour on Wednesday (11.03.26) at Windsor Castle and was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for services to drama and charity, and the Prince of Wales was "really surprised" to find out it hadn't happened sooner.

In an interview shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales' Instagram account, he said: "The Prince of Wales said to me today, 'Have you got one of these already?'

"I said, 'No, no.' I was worried if I said yes, 'Well you're not having this one.' "

The Harry Potter and Star Wars legend was joined by daughter Annabelle, 28, and 23-year-old son Harrison for the special occasion.

Despite learning to be "a lot louder [and] a lot funnier" than his friends to make sure he wasn't "forgotten about in the playground", Warwick didn't have an interest in acting until his grandmother gave him the spark.

He recalled: "At 11, I was a massive fan of Star Wars and she heard an announcement from Lucasfilm who were looking for short people to be in the new movie.

"That was my journey into that galaxy far, far away."

In 2012, Warwick and his late wife Samantha - who died in 2024 from a cardiac arrest following complications from surgery - founded the Little People UK charity, which helps people with dwarfism by providing advice and support.

He said: "Someone with dwarfism is the exact same as everyone else except they're in a smaller body. They have the same dreams, same goals, same desire for love and happiness."

Warwick and his children were also joined by a mystery woman at the palace, having referenced an unnamed woman last year who has helped him "love again".

While accepting his BAFTA Fellowship prize in 2025, he said: "Special mention should go to Sponge, you know who you are.

"Thank you for showing me that life can still have meaning and for helping me to laugh and to love again."

Warwick is yet to offer any more details about her, and had a coy reply with asked on The Jonathan Ross Show.

He quipped: "I can reveal, sticking with the Harry Potter theme, Sponge is indeed She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named."

Warwick will be reprising his role as charms professor Filius Flitwick in HBO's upcoming Harry Potter revival.

In September, he said: "When I first stepped into Professor Flitwick's robes all those years ago, I could never have imagined the journey this character -- and the wizarding world -- would take me on.

"Thank you to all the fans who have kept the magic alive -- I can't wait to see you back in the classroom. Here's to further adventures at Hogwarts."
